AGED, BUT NOT INFIRM!
MAN STRIKES RELIEF OFFICER SEVEN DAYS ' IMPRISONMENT. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, November 19. An assault upon A. H. Jones, chief officer of the relief department of the Auckland Hospital Board, bad its sequel in the Police Court, when Kenneth McLeod, aged 75, appeared^before Mr F. K. Hunt, S.M. Sub-Inspector LeWen said accused went to the office seeking admission to Auckland Infirmary. He had been drinking, and was told by Mr Jones that while he continued to drink the board could do nothing for him. When Asked to leave the office the old man struck Jones in the face, breaking his glasses and injuring his eyes, and ns the result Jones was confined to his bed. # Accused had previously been convicted of assault and drunkenness. • Accused: I had had a few drinks, and did not know what I was doing. The magistrate imposed a sentence of seven days* imprisonment.
