MEASLES PREVALENT
MILD GERMAN TYPE SCHOOL ATTENDANCES AFFECTED. A mild type of German measles is prevalent in Wellington at the present time, and, aa n result, the attendances at some of the schools have been somewhat affected. The disease is not a notifiable one under the Infectious Diseases Act, but nevertheless the Department of Public Health lias been aware of its existence for several weeks, and do net regard tho matter with any concern. In discussing the | ilion with Dr McKibbin, Director of Public Hygiene, yesterday, a ‘•Times'’ reporter wa» informed that German measles invariably produced an enlargement of certain glands, particularly behind tho ears, and the public, as a consequence, are apt to regard them ns being of a peculiar type. While the characteristic is striking, it is not unusual.
