BANANA CANOE

Peel a banana so that the skin remains in the shape of a canoe. About the middle part of the skin stick a splinter of wood right through from side to side. Get an ordinary wooden meat skewer and fasten it to Jgg|f the crosspiece of wood with a pioce . % of wire, in such a position that it is standing upright, with its pointed end through tho bottom of tho “canoe.” That makes the mast.

A little sail can be added by fixing a square of crinkled paper on to the meat skewer mast. The next thing to do is to make the outriggers to calnnce the boat.

Push four small pieces of stick—long match sticks will do—through tho sides of the skin (see diagram) so that the ends stick out on either side. Then tie the outriggers on to tho=e ends of stick with cotton. The outriggers should he made of light, thin wood—the fragile wood of matchboxes is the kind 3*ou want. Your sailing canoe is now completed.
