LIBERALS’ “WAR CHEST”
LLOYD GEORGE WILL GIVE UP POSSESSION DISPUTE SETTLED. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. LONDON, November 18. The “Daily News” says that Me Lloyd George lias offered to place the whole of the interest upon the famous “war chest” at the disposal of the Liberal Party, the only condition being that the cost of hi 3 land campaign and industrial inquiry shall be the first chargo upon it. This is the outcome of the deliberations o‘f a sub-committee which has been seeking a method of reestablishing Liberal unity, especially in regard to finance and organisation. It propose the establishment of a new management committee agreeable to all parties, under a neutral chairman.
For some time there was a disagreement between Mr Lloyd George and the Earl of Oxford over the question of the funds of the Liberal Party, amounting to more than £1,000,009. Mr Lloyd George had refused to relinquish control of tho funds.
