For the corresponding period last year the surplus was £526,546 on gross rMMjtts of *'■£3,823',690) The percentage, ,oJf expenditure to revenue is 85.82, cjftupared with 86.23 for the corresponding period. The east of opened lines is over 46f millions, and of unopened lines, £6,107,779, ' ■ ' There is a decrease in passenger traffic of 762,661 passengers, but an ■ increase 0f'"1027 season tickets, which total 315,198; equal practically to one for. every four of the population. Goods traffio has increased—cattle, sheep and pigs being 370,613, goods being '214,630 tons —while timber has decreased by 42,433 tons.
