November 16. The “New York Times” correspondent in Washington states, on authoritative information, that the status of Sir Hugh Denison will he changed to that of Minister, prohahlv when Mr Stanley Bruce, Prime Minister of Australia, reaches America en route home from the Imperial Conference. If. lie is forced to cancel his American visit, some other suitable occasion will be selected for the announcement and one that may emphasise the importance of the closer relationship of the two English-sneaking countries bordering the Pacific. Sir Hugh Denison reached Washington last week to tako up his appointment as Australian Trade Commissioner in the United States. Tf the news of his new appointment, is correct, he will he tho third Minister representing a British Dominion in the United States. The Irish Free . State has been represented in Washington since 1924 by Professor T. A. Smiddv: and Canada lias just appointed Mr VTincent Massey as Minister in Washington. The Dominions* Ministers deal with matters exclusively affecting their own countries: in other matters they cqnsult with the British Ambassador, who is, at present. Sir Esme Howard.
