BRITISH FOOTBALL

CROWDED LEADERSHIP BURNLEY r AND SWANSEA HEAD FIRST AND SECOND LEAGUE. The League , tables appended include the matches played last Saturday week, November 6fcb,‘ and afford an interesting study for those numerous'socceritea who keenly follow the fortunes of the Home clubs. 'Burnley is in the lead by u single point, but there are three clubs' with only a point less and a game in' hand, while Leicester City, who have been at the top, are two points behind and also have a match in hand. When the next results arrive it will not be surprising to see several changes in position. Derby County, the promoted team,, have improved their position to sixth from the bottom, with West Ham and the once mighty Aston Villa below them. Newcastle, witn new blood in the team, are doing better. # In - the second division Manchester City; Hull, ahtl Middlesborough are likeiy to make a* big bid lor promotion. The Notts clubs aro not doing too well, especially tho County, but Forest may yet rise to the occasion. Aliddlesborough have evidently some sharpshooters, for they have scored 41 goals so far, while only two other clubs in the second division have scored 30 or more. In the first . division Leicester have scored 38, and Burnley 36*, but over 30 goals have also been scored against each of them. Huddersfield, second on the list, have the best goal figures—37 for, 19 agarnet. The tables are as follow:
