WESTPORT HARBOUR CONTROL
RESIDENT ENGINEER WANTED BOROUGH COUNCIL’S REQUEST. Per Press Association. WESTPORT, November 17. The "Westport Borough Council this evening decided to ask the Government to appoint a resident marine engineer to Westport, owing to the amount of protective work now necessary to control the Bullet river and the port. The council is of the opinion that thousands of pounds annually would he saved to the Dominion if an engineer were in charge to watch the many changes taking place in tho river. It was also decided to ask the Government to approve the appointment of at least one local resident to the advisory board controlling the port to represent tho Duller district on that body, as at presnt the community arc unaware of what is being done in the matter of improving the port generally. Such local representative, it is proposed, should he elected by representatives of the district.
