A young married man, Robert Basil Story, of Pio Pio. was charged in the Police Court to-day with making a false declaration to the Registrar of .Marriages in stating that his wife was 21 years of age when he married het, whereas she was 17 years. The motive for doing so was because lie thought the marriage might not be approved. Tho police wero impressed with the frank admissions of the defendant Both defendant and his wife belong to respected families. The defendant, who pleaded guilty, was committed to the Supremo Court for sentence.
