KENT TERRACE DISPUTE
REFERRED TO MR E. PAGE, S.M., FOR REPORT GOVERNMENT’S ANNOUNCEMENT INQUIRY TO BE COMMENCED NEXT FRIDAY The Kent terrace dispute has been referred by the Government to Mr E. Page, S.M., who is to hear evidence on Friday next, and report subsequently to the Government. The Hon. Mr Rolleston made the announcement yesterday in the following terms: —“The Government has decided that the question as to granting the application of the'Wellington City Council for a proclamation under section 12 of the Land Act, 1924, regarding work proposed in Kent terrace shall he referred to Mr E. Page, S.M., who has been directed to hear the parties interested, and, after taking into account all considerations that he may consider relevant, to report to the Government whether, in his opinion, the proclamation should issue in regard to the whole or any part of the land comprised in the council’s application. “Mr Page will hold the inquiry, which will be open to the public, art the Magistrate’s Court, Wellington, on Friday next, the 19th inst., at 10.30 a.m., when it will be competent for interested parties to be present and to call witnesses for or against the application.” \ According to an advertisement in this morning’s “Times,” an inquiry will be held before Mr E. Page, S.M., at the Magistrate’s Court, at 10.30 a.m,, on Friday, November 19th.
