SWITZERLAND NERVOUS

ITALY’S STRATEGIC ROAD UNPLEASANT'POSSIBILITIES. Published in "Th« Times ’’ LONDON, November 14. The Geneva correspondent of “The Times’’ says that Swiss . military circles are nervous regarding the Italian Army’s construction of a. strategic road leading from San ' Giacomo Pass connecting Italy with the Swiss canton of Ticino. Colonel Weber, former Commandant of Engineers, points out that the road would enable, troops in swift motorlorries, starting from Domodossola, to oocupv the Swiss fortifications in the St. Gothnrd Pass before the Swiss army could be mobilised. Many believe that, while the Fascists are not hostile to Switzerland, they regard the Ticino as a lost province and hope at some time to annex it.
