Samson, Director of Repatriation, has recovered from his recent illness. He is notv visiting Dunedin. . Captain F. W. Moor, D.C.M., has succeeded Captain T. W. Mahen as adjutant at King George V. Hospital, Rotorua. Mr William L. Walton, at present science master in the Gore High School, has been appointed to a position in Auckland city as an instructor in agricultural science. The Council of Education has passed a. motion of condolence with tho relatives of the late Mr G. Hogben, late Director-General of Education, and formerly a member of the councilMr J. H. Howell, who took hit seat as a member of the Council ol Education for - the first- time yesterday, was welcomed-by Dr. W. J. Anderson, Director-General of Education. Lieutenant J. D. . Campbell, of Auckland, is in Wellington, preparatory to leaving for Rarotonga to take up a position under the Cook Islands Administration. Messrs T. Johnson and R. N. Pilkington have been nominated for the vacant seat on the Hamilton Borough Council, caused by the appointment of Mr J. R. Pow as Mayor. According to a Press Association message from Wangiinui, St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church has extended a unanimous call to the Rev. Evair R. Harris, of Chalmers Church, Timaru. Mr Harold W. Hudson, _ managing director of Messrs L. D. Nathan and Co., Auckland, is to leave Wellington by ’the Marama this week for San Francisco, en route for Europe. He is to bo accompanied by Mrs Hudson. Captain L. Inkster, of the Govern* ment steamer Janie Seddon, has. been granted three monthis’ holiday, which he intends to spend in the South Island. Captain Norris, of the Government steamer Lady Roberts, at Auckland, is acting-master o? the Janie Seddon. On behalf of the members of the Wellington Bowling dub,: Mr I. Salek (hon. treasurer! wished the retiring president (Mr Thomas Ballinger) at last night’s annual meeting, health and happiness for many years to come, ad expressed the hope that he would greatly enjoy his forthcoming trip for health reasons to Australia. (Applause.) During tile year the club had frequently enjoyed the president’s hospitality, and he had presented a very handsome Peace Oup to the club. (Applause.)
