A SECRET BALLOT
AUCKLAND GAS WORKERS. PER PRESS ASSOCIATION. AUCKLAND, June 14. A secret ballot to decido whether tho offer of tho employers in respect to tho demand for increased wages will bo accepted or not, and in the event of it being' rejected, whether it will favour adopting extreme measures to sociuro the union's claims, is at present being taken by members of tho Auckland Gas Employees' Union. The ballot-papers, which were issued on Juno 10th, are returnable beforo to-morrow evening ait 5 o'clock. At a special meeting of the union, held on the 9th of the present month, somo 220 members ' attending, the company's offer was rejected. The engineer and manager of tho company was advised accordingly, and further notified that a ballot of all members was being taken to confirm the resolution or otherwise.
