'VARSITY DEFEATS BERHAMPORE. Last Saturday’s Rugby draw brought together the 'Varsity and Berhampore senior teams for the first occasion this season. Tho game resulted in a win for the College by twelve points to five. Play was not interesting to those on the side lino, and although the sco.ro indicates a fairly marked predominance, of the winning team, tho losers won as many laurels in general play as their opponents. With tho commencement, Varsity were playing from east to west, - but tho uteabhor were .sitdh that neither side was unduly favoured by wind; the ground was a little mucky after the recent rains, hut might have been worse. First blood was drawn by University; pressing from the kick-off, the students gradually gamed, ground, and securing in a handy position. Almost immediately following this, Berhampore initiated a fast and brilliant passing rush, as a result of which Howard crossed the goal-line and opened the score for the southerners. .
