WAIROA HARBOUR
LATEST ENGINEERING PRCfc POSALB, PEB PRESS ASSOCIATION. WAIROA. June 11. Messrs William Ferguson (Welling* ton), Blair Mason (Dunedin), and Cyrus Williams (Christchurch), the Engineering Commission to the Wairoa Harbour Board, have submitted a scheme of harbour works at Waikokopu. The cost! of the first instalment would be £165,000, and the main scheme £268,000, a total cost of £433,600. If the main scheme were proceeded with the first cost is estimated at £333,000. a saving of £IOO,OOO, and for that sum the board could obtain complete shelter for vessels of a draught of 38 feet. The board has decided to ask Air Blaii; Mason to state ids terms for supervising the work. A committee was set up to consul! with the Gisborne Board in regard to lands north of Waikokopu at present in the Gisborne rating area, and which, it is considered, should be in the Wairoa rating area, with a view' to obtaining an amicable settlement.
