"QUICK MARCH"
• THE SOLDIERS' MONTHLY. the latest issue of the returned diers’ monthly, “Quick March,” is quite on a par in point' of “readableness” with prerioUri numbers. It contains nearly a hundred pages of fact and fiction, and on every sheet one finds something of interest. The outside cover boars a striking photograph of “Our Latest Honoured . Guest,” General Sir William Birdwood, and there are a number of other photographio plates illustrating/ incidents in connection with the visit of the “Digger Prince.” Ono of the feature Btoriee describes the presentation ccremoiiv at the Legislative CouncT Chambers, at which the Prince was made life patron of the N.Z.R.S.A., and presented _ with a gold facsimile of the association badge. Hhc greater part the reading matter consists of ’ interesting and well-written storj’ettes, but these by no means exclude the general ini urination which the reader naturally expects to go with it. Matters of vital interest to the returned men arc reported at length, particularly in the articles" upon dependents allowances, and that upon “Money and Prices/’ an interesting explanation by Professor B. E. Murphy of the difference between paper money and goods. The ‘•Birdie’’ page of anccdoteu reminiscent of tile famous - General’s popularity with the ‘‘Digger.-?,’’ contains some particularly fresh yarns. The next issue of “Quick March’’ promises to bo an even more readable one, containing reports of the receptions to General Birdwood and of the proceedings of the recent annual R.S.A. Conference.
