CONFERENCE CONTINUED. The conference of delegates to the Post and Telegraph Association was continued throughout yesterday, but only committee matters wero dealt with. It was decided to communicate with the Prime Minister and ask him to give a more definite reply to tho deputation that waited upon him early in May last in respect to salaries. A resolution empowering .the executive to amend the constitution of the association in order to provide for a committee consisting of eight members (four from each island), together with the president and vice-president, •mooting quarterly instead of tho executive committee, which Is composed of Wellington members of the association, meeting monthly, was carried. To-day the deliberations of tho conference will bo in committee. COMMISSIONER CONTROL. At a largely-attended meeting of tho Dunedin branch of tho Now Zealand Post and Telegraph Officers’ Association, the fallowing resolutions were unanimously carried; (1) That delegates to conference be Instructed to opposo_ any suggestion of reversion to Commissioner control. (2) That delegates bo given a free hand ro “consequential adjustments.” (3) That in the event of a complete breakdown in the present delegates be instructed to advocate tho immediate taking of a secret ballot, and that before drastic action is' taken the majority to be at least three-fifths of total membership.
