NEW ZEALAND'S PROTECTION. An Order-in-Oouncil made by His Majesty the Ring affecting the Government of Western Samoa is published in the latest issue of the ‘New Zealand Gazette.” The order was made at the Court at Buckingham Palace on March 11th in the presence of the King, the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, Lord Chamberlain, Lord Somerloyton, and ibir Frederick Ponsonby. The order, which is cited os tnc Western Samoan Ordcr-in-Council, 1020, is made upon the renunciation by Germany through the "Peace Treaty i f her right over tho islands of Western Samoa. It decrees that the islands) of Upolu and Savaii. together with the adjacent islands situated between the thirteenth and fourteenth decrees ol south latitude and the 171st and 173rc degrees west longitude shall be known' as the territory of Western Samoa; further, that tho Parliament of New Zealand shall have full power to make laws for the peace, order, and good government, of the islands, in accordance with tho provisions of the Peace Treaty. ,
