JOCKEYS’ DISPUTE
A STEAMER HELD UP. SECEDED RIDERS ABOARD. PEE PRESS ASSOCIATION. AUCKLAND, June 8, The Arahura’a departure for Gisborne last night waS delayed for tyro hours by the crow refusing to sail with two jockeys who seceded from the Jockeys' Association, The jockeys agreed to return ashore and the Arahura sailed at 11.55 p.m. THE CONCILIATION PROCEEDINGS. The following persons _ have bean nominated by the respective parties in connection with the settlement of the dispute between the Jockey’s Association and the racehorse owners, under tho Labour, Disputes Investigation Act, 1913:—Sir George Clifford (Christchurch), Mr H. Hannon (Auckland), and Mr J. S. McLeod (Hastings) in place of Sir J. G. Duncan, representing the racehorse owners, and Messrs C. C. Sheath (Auckland), H. W. Davis (Wellington), and W. A. Ryan (Auckland), representing the Jockey’s Association. The conference wall be held at the Conciliation Commissioner’s office, Wellington, to-day and Mr P. Hally will preside. TRANSPORT -WORKERS’ ATTITUDE. • TO-DAY. A _ meeting of the Transport Workers' Advisory Board was hold yesterday afternoon to receive the report of the general secretary and that of the representatives of the Jockeys’ Association, and in view of the conference to-day to discuss matters in dispute between tho racehorse owners and the association, it was deemed advisable.to take no action ■furthtar than continuing the embargo now imposed on racing.
