MATCHWORKERS' UNION
ACTION BY FACTORY EMPLOYEES.
A meeting of employees in the Wellington ma.toli factory was held for the purpose of re-forming the union that became defunct soma tlirce years ago. The majority of those employed in the factory attended. At the outset the meeting cancelled the registration of the old union; the following resolution was then -carried unanimously :—'"l'hat this meeting of workers employed in the Wellington Match Factory'agrees to, form a Union, of all'those employed In' the'factory, and that application be made forthwith for the registration of such union under the Industrial, Conciliation and Arbitration Act, 1908, and its amendments.”
' Officers were appointed, as follow: President. Mr A. W. Mason; vice-presi-dent. Miss J. Patrick; secretary, Mr 11. McKccn; treasurer,- Miss M. , Barber; trustees, Misses- J., - Patrick and _M. Sauvarin: management committee. Misses M. Sauvarin, M. Walters, M.* Barber, K. Jeffery; and Messrs A.. G. McKinley and F. Humphries. , -1 Mueh interest was displayed in the reorganisation of. L the union; it. was, decided that as soon as the registration, waa accomplished' and' the union was on a proper industrial basis, steps should he taken to secure a new award. It was also resolved that a reunion social should be held in the course of a few weeks to celebrate the reconstruction of the union.
