LEVIN OR HAWKE’S BAY? DISPOSAL OF J'OSIAH HOWARD BEQUEST. .. PSII TRESS ASSOCIATION. NAPIER, June 9. Practically every 16cul body in the district ha.-, passed ‘resolutions ; against the Government using the Josiah Howard bequest to found an agricultural college at Levin instead of within Hawke’s Bay, die testator having been a resident of Tikokino. Tho Napier Thirty -Thousand Club has now received a letter from the Right Hon. W. F. Massey stating that the income derivable from the estate will not be sufficient to meet the expenses ol carrying on a first-class institution, and that he would ho quite prepared to give young fellows from, Hawke's Bay first claim on Ilia accommodation and instruction provide?, at the institution. This concession, is regarded in some quarters as an indication that Hawke’s Bav has a. claim for the agricultural college, to be erected in the district.
