The U.S. and A. Line steamer Chepadoa is to sail from Wellington at noon to-day for Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne with remander of cargo from Now Y’ork. The Kamona is duo at Wellington about nest Tuesday from Westport with o. cargo of coal The Flora is due at Wellington on Saturday from Oamaru and Timaru and is to sail on .Monday for Greymouth, taking general cargo.. The Union Company advise that the Corinna is now expected at Wellington on Sunday from Now Plymouth with dairy produce. The Wnihora, which is to get away from Wellington to-day for Sydney, >s to undergo an .overhaul at the latter port.
The alterations to the Waverley are nearing completion and the vessel is expected to leave AYdllington op Saturday for Patea. Electric lighting has been installed on the vessel. The Canterbury Company advise that the Kara is due at Wellington on Saturday from Lyttelton. She is to sail on Tuesday on tho return trip, taking cargo Tlio Canterbury Company's steamer Calm, which arrived at Wellington last night from Lyttelton, is to sail on Saturday with general cargo for Dunedin, Timaru and Lyttelton. Mr J. Hackworth joined the Moeraki yesterday as extra officer. Air ,M. Moore, extra engineer of that, vessel, came ashore.

The Putiki is to leave Wellington tonight for East Const stations. Tho vessel is to load a little wool, after discharge, for Wellington. The auxiliary scow Magic left Wellington yesterday morning for Tarakohe with a cargo of timber. After discharge the vessel will go to Sandy Bay to load stone for Wellington. The steamer Wootton is expected at Wellington from Lyttelton on Saturday, and is to sail on Monday on the return trip. ■ The Baden Powell is duo at Wellington again next Sunday from Lyttelton, and is to sail on Tuesday on the return trip with general cargo. The Huddart-Parker steamer Uliraaroa is to leave Sydney to-day for Wellington, where she is due on Monday.
Beside the ferry steamer Wahine, tbs Calm, for Wellington, tho Breeze, for Picton, the Houto, for Dunedin, and tho Ngakuta, for Greymouth, wore also detained at Lyttelton on Tuesday night owing to the heavy fog. The Anchor Co.’s steamer Alexander ia due at Wellington on Sunday from -Wanganui, and will sail at 5 p.m. on Monday for Nelson and West Coast. As they' were unable to cross the Wairau bar bound for Blenheim, tho auxiliary scow Echo and the auxiliary- schooner May Howard went to Picton yesterday- to discharge and load. Tho vessels will arrive back at Wellington to-morrow. 'The Komata. left M cMpim, yesterday at 3.20 p.m. for Wellington, whore she is duo tliis afternoon. The steamer Schwarz.eufe’fi left Auckland at’6.45 a.m. yesterday for Wellington with remainder of cargo of basic phosphate from Safaga, Red Sea. Tho vessel is duo here to-morrow. After dsohargo she will proceed no Newcastle.
Tho OliU'ama, formerly known as the Ajana, which was recently' pui chased oy the New: Zealand S.S. Co., sailed from Avcmmouth on April 22nd for St. John. Loading general cargo at that port,, she was expected to sail for Australian ports at the end of last month- She is of Urn shelter deck typo, and was built by Messrs Russell and Co., Port Glasgow, in 1912, Before the war- a beginning had been made with the work of equipping some of the more, isolated lighthouses round tho Australian coast with small wireless plants. Tasman Island, off the south-east coast of Tasmania, for instance, had a small wireless plant, by means of which it could communicate with Hobart. At the other end of the continent, Cpe Don could get in touch with Darwin. Diu’ing the war these plants were dismantled. Now they are to bo restored, and it is intended that eventually every "attended” lighthouse shall have some means of communication with the outside world. MOEBAKI VICE WAHINE. The dense fog at Eytlellon detained the Wahino until 1 o’clock yesterday morning at that port. At that hour the vessel proceeded' cautiously. At half-past 3 o’clock yesterday morning tho vessel was clear of the fog, and she made a good run to Wellington, arriving hero at 13.35 p.m. yesterday. Owing to tho Wnhine’s late arrival tho vessel did not leave Wellington last -night, hut will sail to-monow evening for Lyttelton. The Moeraki left Wellington last night for Lyttelton in the Wahine’s running, and will sail from Lyttelton to-night, acain in. the Wahine’s time-table, for Wellington, arriving here to-morrow morning. Tho vessel has 1630 tons of cargo to put out at Wellington. THE PORT NICHOLSON. Tho V. and D. Line steamer Port Nicholson arrived back at Wellington yesterday afternoon from'Picton and ‘berthed at ftie Glasgow wharf to complete Homeward loading. The vessel is to leave here at midday to-morrow for London via Panama. ’ NGAKUTA AND NGAHERE. The Blackball Coal Company advise that Hie Ngakuta is to load at Greymouth to-morrow for Wellington, where she is duo on Sunday. Her cargo ,ot coal will bo for bunkering the Remuera. The Ngahere is also expected at Wellington on Sundaw from Greymouth with ■ bunkea- coal for the Wcotralia and Paparoa. SURREY AT NAPIER. The Federal and Shire liner Surrey arrived at Napier at 2 p.m. yesterday from Australia for loading. THE MOKOIA. * The Mokoia is now timed to leave Auckland at 3 p.m. to-morrow for Napier and Wellington.
