PETONE ROWING CLUB
ANNUAL REUNION. At tho annual reunion of members.of the Petone Bowing Chib, the chairman (Mr F. Mothes) stated that the season just ‘ concluded tofrbeen one', of the most successful in the h IEto jV of h club. The club started with 54,- and ended with SO members. As a result of the recent bazaar, {which had been organised by the ladies), the Hub had not only wiped off a „dobt of £lao, but had a credit balance of £l6O. At tho recent regatta the club had obtained, out of six entrants, one first, .a dead-beat, and two seconds—a commendable record. The speaker complimented the duo on its fine effort last season. The president of tho club (Mr C. Collett) congratulated the club on the success it had attained, and complimented the committee on the result of its past labours. The speaker suggested that in the future, now that the club s financial position was sound efforts should be made to improve the •clubhouse, as, for instance, by the addition of a gymnasium or a reading-room. By these means a good social spirit would be engendered. Mr Collett announced, amidst applause, that he would donate a cup for competition next season. Trophies and medals , were presented as follow:-Mothes Memonal Cup.Senior pairs: 0- H. Haddock (stroke, and M. Love (bow). Drummond Cup.Junior pairs: M. Allan, and T.. Love Wellington . Regatta Winners.—Maiden pairs: 0. H. Haddock (E.P. tea set). M. Love (gold medal). Club Medals.-J-Bradv M. Love, M. Allan, T. XMVe. Junior fours: T. Ingham.- Club fours: T. Hickey (antique vase). Cox, U-o medal; J. Pollock, W. Brady. H. Love. During the evening the following toasts were honoured:— "The King” ' (proposed by tho chairman); The Wellington Blowing Association” (proposed by Mr W. R. Hume -and responded to by Jlr Deihl); "The Ladies” (proposed by Mr J. Mockeridge and responded to by Mr F, Mothes); /‘Regatta Winners ’ (proposed bv the chairman and responded to hr Mr W. R,. Hnme); “Kindred Sports” (proposed bv Mr B. Tremaio and responded to by Mlcesrs S. Price and W. Langridge); and “The Press.’ The following contributed items: Messrs C. Ryan, L. Boyd, M. Allan, J. Mockeridge. McArthur. M. Ford, A. Kyle, Wi Blandford, C. Blandford, and the club Gleo Party.
