ITALIAN CRISIS
UNPOPULAR FOOD DEGREE GOVERNMENT’S POSITION PRECARIOUS. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received Juno 8, 11.10 p.m.) ROME. Juno 7. Tho Government’s position is precarious owing; to tho Socialists’ refusing; to assent to Signor Nitti’s decree increasing the price of bread and flour. The Socialists arc organising strong Parliamentary and public opposition to tho decree, which was badly received. The railway situation is also most serious, arising out of the refusal by tho railwaymen to move troops and ammunition. The newspapers accuse Signor Nitti of weakness.
