SHIELD AND CUP MATCHES. PER PRESS ASSOCIATION. CHRISTCHURCH. Juno 8. At a meeting of the New Zealand Hookey Association it was agreed to play shield matches against Auckland m the following order: Nelson, Hawke’s Bay, Alauawajtu, Wanganui, and Canterbury, and to write to Auckland and Nelson suggesting that the first match bo played not later than July 3rd. Challenges by Thames ana Poverty Bay against Waikato, who hold the Nordon Cup, were fixed in that order, the first match to bo played on July 10th. i With respect to referees for the shield matches, it was decided to endeavour to make appointments through the New Zealand Referees’ Association; also to write to affiliated associations and the Referees’ Association asking for a list of referees competent to control shield or Nordon Cup matches, and who are prepared to act oulfcside their own district. '
