STRIKE SETTLED
AUCKLAND TRAM TROUBLE SERVICES TO OK RESUMED TO-DAY. FEE I’r.ESS ASSOCIATION. AUCKLAND. Ju i)o 7. The tramways strike was settled to-night as a result of negotiations between the parlies to the dispute. The terms of the settlement wilt not be announced until they have been submitted to the Tramways I nion. It is proposed to resume the services in terms of the *OlllOlllOlll tomorrow afternoon. BEFORE THE SKTT.LEAIE.XT. AUCKLAND WALKS TO WORK. AUCKLAND, Juno 7. Auckland again walked to work today. Until 9 a.m. the fog was very thick, and most of the wheeled traffic carried lights. In consequence, the suburban trains were crowded and the motor ’buses did roaring trade. Afore people walked home in the evening than wonid have been the case owing ""to many motors having been diverted in bite afternoon to the races. Eor the same reason the Railway Department found it impossible to put on extra trains. All the .jockeys at Ellcrslic carried out their riding engagements, and the railways ran the race trains.
