NEW AWARD WANTED
BREWERY AND KINDRED TRADES. The Wellington Breweiy and Aerated Water Employees’ Union have filed their claims for a new award, and the matter will come before tho Conciliation Council on June 10th.
The principal demands are for a 44hour week and wages at tho following rates: —Machine bottlers, £4 5s per week; general workers, £4 per week; casual labour (employed for less than a week), 2s 4d per hour; youths 15 to 16 years, £1 10» per week; 16-17, £2; 17-18, £2 10s; 18-19, £2 15s; 1920, £3.. The proportion of youths to men’shall'not exceed one to five or portion, of five. The recognised holidays are asked for, and in addition an annual holiday of a fortnight ori full pay; The demands do not apply to female labour, which may be employed as hitherto, but females shall not be employed in bottling aerated waters, cordial, or alcoholic beverages except at the rates provided. The union assessors nominated aro: ■Messrs J. O’Brien, T. Johnson, and 8. .Wiskovic.
