GRADING BASIS AGREED ON. CAPITATION SYSTEM IN QUESTION. The question of classifying or grading the assistant teachers of the secondary schools, in accordance with their 'position in the schools and corresponding salaries, was the subject of a conference held yesterday between .the Minister for Education (the Hon. O. J. Parr), the Director, .and tho As-sistant-Director of Education, tho secondary schools' inspectors, and eight Beconcinry assistants from atl parts of New Zealand. At the conclusion of tho day's sittings, the Minister informed a "Times" representative that a. very satisfactory meeting had been held, and that the conference had been able to recommend a basis of classification. To-day, he added, the conference will meet sixain, and ffo into the question of grading tho different schools ana the positions in them. Tho question of n better basis than the present capitation system for teachers' salaries wul also be discussed.
