MOTOR LEGISLATION

DEPUTATION TO MINISTER. BETTER ROADsTtAXATION, ETC. Several points of interest to motorists were brought before the notico of the Minister for Internal Affairs (Hon. G. J'. Anderson) by a deputation from the New Zealand Automobile Union yesterday morning., The deputation was headed by Mr W. BeauchampPlatts, secretary to the union, who explained certain matters which tho union considered were in need of immediate legislative attention. Mr Beauchamp Platts pointed out (that there had been of late an enormous increase in tho motor 'iidustry in the Dominion: it would seem that the time had arrived to amend, modify or standardise some of the laws and regulations at present, existing relating to motor traffic.. The chief points he wished to stress were those relating! to taxation, roads, registration, by-laws, and amendments to existing acts.

Mr Platts explained in detail the ideas the deputation wished *o bring before the Minister. The Minister said he was generally in favour of the views expressed and assured the deputation that motor legislation would be introduced this session,
