- rSUICIDE OR MURDER? CHARGE AGAINST FELLOW RETURNED SOLDIER. I’EB TUESS ASSOCIATION. WHANGAREI. Juno 2. Wiromu Pito, a returned Maori soldier, was formally charged at tho Whangarci Court this morning with tho murder of Douglas Kaupeka. another returned native soldier, by shooting lit Mohan, in tho Helena Bay district, on Sunday last. The case was at first supposed to be one of suicide, but it has since been stated that the gun was found lying behind the deceased on a bed, and that other indications disposed of the suicide theory. No particulars were revealed in Die court, and tho accused was remanded for eight days on tho application of the police-
