PRICE OF MILK
OHRISTCaUROH DAIRYMEN AND THE BOARD OF TRADE.

On the 20th anst. the Board of Trade fixed the wholesale price of milk at la 3d per gallon, and, according to the chairman of the Dairymen's Association, wished to extract a promise from them that this price would not be exceeded. The association sent tho following telegram to the chairman of the Board of Trade: "Tho Dairymen's Associaton. considers that the board's decision is not in accordance with the weight of evidence given. Would you be prepared to give facilities for a further inquiry immediately. .Failing this, would you take immediate action against a dairyman for profiteering if he charged Is Gd per gallon wholesale, so as to hav» th» mattcv tested in. a court of law before actually gazetting the price?" This telegram was sent on Friday, and as no reply was aeceived, the association wrote to the Minister for Agriculture setting out the position and drawiug attention to the fact that, as a number of suppliers had ceased to supply milk during the winter months, there waa a possibility of the milk supply of Christchurch' failing.
