MUNICIPAL FISH MARKETS
COOL STORAGE REQUIRED. Speaking of tho municipal fish market at Auckland, tho chairman of tho special committee in charge of tho undertaking said something should bo done in tho way of providing cool sitorago for fish afc certain points. The Government had considered setting up depots in various places, but nothing had been done. The committee- felt that a cool store should be erected at once at Helensville, or some point further north along the railway line. If this wero done it was probable that more fish would bo forthcoming from tho Kaipara. The committee wished to suggest that the council endeavour to have it appointed as distributor of benzine- to fishermen, ae it was agreed that such an arrangement would be very advantageous. The sales at tho council's shop for the. year amounted to £14,391, the'average number of customers served each week being 4702.
