HARRIERS

THE BROOKLYN CLUB. The above club held a three miles sealed handicap race at Seatouu on Saturday. Notwithstanding the cold wind blowing- twenty-live runners faced the starter, Mr Bristow. from the word •'go 1 ' Bell went to the front, and at the end of half a mile was leading Robinson, Deutice and D. Todd, in that order. At Miramar, with half the distance gone, the held was well strung out. the lignter men finding it hard to battle against the head wind. Once on the Seatouu road Bell raced right away, and finishing strongly breasted the tape 250 yards ahead of Dontice, who. in a great finish, beat I). Todd by inches, with Smellie. Robin son and Waters next, in the order , named. The sealed handicap resulted as fellows:—R. 8011, scratch, first, time. 20min 27sec; H. Billing, Imin SOsac, second,; A Mitchell, Imin SOseo. third.

After the race runners and supporters were generously entertained to afternoon tea by Mr Campion at the Seatouu tearooms, and was highly appreciated by all present. The following team will represent the club in the Edmund Cup teams race, at Dunedin, ion June 12th Bell, Burk, Dentice, Robinson, Meech, Todd, Billing, Mitchell, Harlen, Waters. OLYMPIC CLUB. The above club held the usual weekly run from Karori last Saturday. There was a good muster, twenty-aix runners following a course which was selected by Pearston (an old Mosterton harrier) and Lovell. The runners were divided into two packs, a slow mid fast one, the former getting about ten. minutes’ start. A little more judgment could b e used in selecting the runners in the different packs, as fast runners in a slow pack have a tendency to spoil the object of having a slow pack, as wan shown last Saturday, the two boys Wilson being about 600 yards ahead of the rest. The usual run-in was held over the last half-mile, and resulted in W. Clark, G. Davis, and A. Clayton finishing in this order. The runners and their friends, to the number of thirty-eight, were entertained at afternoon tea. by Mr Currie Wilson. The president, Mr W. H. Philp, thanked Mr 'Wilson for his kindness.
