REPRESENTATIVE MATCHES. WELLINGTON Y HAWKE’S BAY. - PER PEESS ASSOCIATION. NAPIER, May 30. Two interprovincial .football matches, under the Northern Union rules, wore played pn McLean Park on Saturday between junior and senior teams representing Wellington and Hawke's Bay. There was a large attendance of spectators, a cold and fairly strong, wind blowing during the greater part of the afternoon. Both games were well contested and the senior struggle was, at times, very exciting, some good play by both sides ‘being shown. The junior match was won by Wellington by 11 points to 8 and the; senior match by Hawke's Bay bv 26 points to 18, the scores fairly well indicating the respective merits of the teams.’ CANTERBURY DEFEAT WEST COAST. The metropolitan football team will meet the Englishmen on; Saturday nest The team chosen is:—Full-back, Fraser; three-quarters, H. Horder, Gilbert, Farnsworth, and Lawrence; half, Mo,Go wan; five-eighths, Copies; forwards, Schultz, Pearce, Gray, Townsend, F. Burge, Watkins. Reserves: Conaghan, Kaufman, Latta, and Tye. JUNIOR TOURNAMENT. At Newtown Park on Saturday a junior seven-a-cido tournament was got off under the auspices of the League Football Association. The series proved very interesting, and the final was played between Central and Petor.o. The latter team won by 11 points to 8. The winning team comprised: Bell, Walters, Haysman, Stubtersfiefcl. McKay. Wilson and Delargey. No senior games were played.
