A BRITISH SYNDICATE'S PURCHASES. Australian »n<3 N.Z. Cabin Association. LONDON. May 22 (delayed). P. and O. deterred shares are emoted at £445. There is a general advance in the price of shipping shares, which is attributed to a British syndicate's purchase of 850,000 tons of tho International Mercantile Marine fleet. It is rumoured here that the Peninsular and Oriental Company is connected with tho transaction. (Received June 4, 11.5 p.m.) LONDON, May 23. P. and O. shares are quoted at £450.
