TO-DAY’S FOOTBALL
To-day, at Athletic Park, the Maori Pioneer Battalion team, which has acquitted itself so well in other parts of the Dominion, will meet the Wellington first class representatives. The game is timed to start at 2.45 p.m., and a keen, open match is anticipated. The teams are as follow;
Pioneer Battalion—Full-back, Corporal Edwards; three-quarters, Lieutenant H. Wilkinson, lieutenant W. Barclay, Sergeant Mapu; five-eighths, Sergeant F. Barclay and Sergeant R. Rodgers; halves, Lieutenant H. Jacobs, Captain R. Vcrcoe; forwards, Sergeant Tui Carroll, Private P. Tapihan», Captain J. H. Hall (lock). Lieutenant J. Ormond, Lieutenant A. Auhana, and Corporal Te Urupu. Wellington—Full-back, Malin (Poneke); threc-quar.ers, McArthur (Poneke), .Corner .(Petono).. Hele.y (Athletic); five-eighths, Jackson (’.Varsity), Algar (Poneke); half-back, Pollock (Ponoke); wing-forward, Gair (Oriental); forwards, Bruce '(Selwyn), Albert Parker (Petono), T. Beard (University), Patou (Atholtic), Taylor (Poneke). Ryan (Athletic), Marks (Poneke). Emergencies: Backs. McCabe (Athletic); forwards. Devine (Poneke), Kent (Selwyn). As the Pioneers are wearing black jerseys. Wellington will play in black and blue.
