ELECTION PROSPECTS
SELECTING CANDIDATES FOR NEW PARTY.

Interest in the coming election hag been awakened in Napier by the visit of Messrs vernon lieed, M.P., and C. J. Parr, M.P., who left for th'e south yesterday. They have been in Napier endeavouring to select a candidate to represent a neiv party (now in the process of formation) at the forthcoming election. That sonio results were achieved is considered .certain, and no fewer than five probable starters in, the Parliamentary Stakes were freely mentioned in town to-day. Among!t the names mentioned were those of an insurance manager, a returned soldier, a commission agent, and an accountant. Mr J. Vigor Brown, the sitting member, is certain to bo a oandidate.
It was city talk this morning that the first-mentioned, who was one of the "also started" in the Gity Council election, will probably be the'; selected candidate for the new party, and fiat he has consented to contest. the election.
