A programme of the usual high standard presented by the Wellington Harmonic Society (conductor, Mr H. Temple White) has been arranged for the .first concert of the 1919 season, to be held in the concert chamber. Town Hall, ...on' Saturday ... Other unaccompanied numbers vtili be “The Lee Shore" ICoh?-, ridge Taylor), "As Torrents in Summer” (Elgar), “Th eDawn of Song” BainUw), "How Sweet the Moonlight Sleeps” (Leslie), and "Ay Wankin' O," a delightful arrangement of a Scottish air by Robertson. Accompanied by Mr Harold Whittle, the society-twill render "Far Away From Every Pleasure” (Bislrpp), - and= Dr Chiillinors choral ode "A'Sdng "of'-’the Sea.” An instrumental ■ quartet will trovidc a change from the vocal music with Brahms' “Hungarian Dance” npd Beethoven's "Minuett." A male qm i tot from the ranks of the society will be heard in "The Long Day Closes" (Sullivan), and . "In ‘Absence” (Dudley Buck). This particular party proved to be' th e champion male quartet at the competitions held here last February.
