PROTESTANT POLITICAL ASSOCIATION
ANNUAL COUNCIL. & . The annual council of the Protestant Political Association of New Zealand was held yesterday in the Esperanto Hall, Lanibton quay. Representatives were present from all parts of the Dominion. The president (Mr A. Donald) presided, and delivered the presidential address, expressing pleasure at the termination of the war, and the approaching conclusion of the terms of Peace. The work of the year was reviewed, and the policy for the incoming year outlined. The thanks of the council were accorded to the president for, his address. The national lecturer (the Rev. Howard Elliott) reported on the widely successful organisation during the past year. .Notwithstanding the epidemic and other interferences the association had more than doubled during the year. The results of the recent local elections afforded evidence of the weight of the P.P.A., whilst the influence of tho association was fighting the Bolshevik, I.'W'.W., and Sinn Fean iuad succeeded in driving a wedge between sane loyal labour and the disdoval extremists. The P.P.A. had a largo enrolment of loyal unionists, - and the pros, pects were optimistically stated. The demands for organisation we're difficult t* meet, notwithstanding that eight organisers were at work. The lecturer was heartily thanked for his srvices and congratulated upon the success of the association. The treasurer’s statement and balance-sheet were presented and fullv discussed and proposals made to develop the financial strength. The conference adjourned till to r day.
