CHRISTCHURCH, May 90. The shop assistants' dispute was before the Conciliation Council to-day. No agreement was arrived at in the soft goods section in respect to •wages, holidays, and hours. It -was agreed that casual hands be paid Is lOd pel hour <males), and Is 2d (females), and 50 per cent, advance in wages was allowed female hands employed in ■suing or handling men's nnd juveniU clothing and heavy goods. Other minot clauses were agreed to.
