QUESTION IN HOUSE OF

COMMONS

Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. LONDON, May 18. Replying to Sir Newton Moore in tho House of Commons, Mr G. H. Roberts (Minister for Food) said Australian importers handled their own meat, except what the army required. None was handled by American or other companies. Only 10 per cent, of Britain's consumption of imported meat during 1918 consisted of Australasian meat. The serious shortage then prevailing necessitated large imports of North American meat, the price for - which was higher.
