CHRIST’S SECOND COMING
RELIGIOUS CONFERENCE IN WELLINGTON.
The meetings of the conference in connection with the association for the propagation of the truth of Our Lord s second coming continued on Saturday, throughout the afternoon and evening. The services were well attended. At the evening session the Rev. W. Q. Williams, in continuation of his subject, "Signs of the Times,” said that, as foretold in the Bible men were banding themselves into unions and federations with the object of securing rights and privileges exclusively for themselves. Another sign of tho times was the groat principle of trusts and combines, the American Meat Trust for instance, which like an octupus had its tentacles in almost every part of tho world. There were also th Standard Oil Company, the Steel Corporations, and more recntly the large combinations of great shipping interests under tno supremo control. That principle would rapidly develop until the state of commerce was exactly as described, in tho book of Revelation. Then in the Jewish world there was the Zionist movement, wlifch began in 1898, one of tho most marvellous incidents in • the history of that people. Tho Jews in every nation were once more recognising their national unity, and the great object of that Zionist movement was to secure Palestine for themselves. About 150,000 had returned to Palestine before tho war. Ihe one great hindrance to their return was tho antipathy of tho Turkish Government, but now that barrier had been removed, and in tho near future tens of thousands would return to their country. The reonwakening of the national consciousness of the Jewish nation was one of tho signs of tho times that pointed to tho second coming of Christ as being vorv near. The Rev. H. G. Kerens, speaking on "irtio Two Stages of Christ's Coming," said: Thera wore two sets of passages to he found in scripture. One set spoke of His appearing in the air, coming for His Saints unto salvation before tho time spoken ?f as the tribulation. The other set spoke of His coming to earth in splendour, surrounded by His Saints, to execute! judgment and establish tlio millenium.
