CONTINUATION CLASSES
FURTHER REGULATION& .GAZETTED.
Regulations have been gazetted dealing with compulsory attendance at continuation classes in accordance with the powers vested in tho Governor-in-CounoU bv Act of last session. The regulations require the attendance at technical schools, or at continuation or technical Classes; "of young -persons between tho ages of 14 and 17 years, not otherwise receiving suitable education. These regulations. which are in the main similar to these in operation, are made applicable to the districts in which the education boards had previously taken aoAii important regulation dealing with civio training reads as follows; —‘The course of instruction shall he determined by tho director of tho technical school or classes as far as possible in accordance with tho individual needs of the pupil, with duo regard to tho wishes of parents, guardians, or employers ot the pupil, and to tho crafts and industries practised in the district (including agriculture, if so practised, and tho do•mestio nrtsh' and-shall in all cases include instruction in English, including history and civics, and in personal hygiene and firsbaid. and where practicable. in the case of girls, instruction in home nursing. Attention must also bo given to physical training where this is .not.jQther.wise provided for.’
