STATE COMMITTEE’S REPORT FAR-REACHING' RECOMMENDATIONS. By Telegraph.—Press Association —Copyright Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received May* WRISTS-aim.) LONDON, May 10. The Government Committee on. Women’s Work report in favour of equal pay for equal work. In other cases the relative values of the work should bo settled by the employees’ , trades, unions. Married men should, be. paid, children's allowances where equal pay might otherwise lead to the employment of women instead of men. Other recommendations include improved hours and conditions, better sanitation, a minimum wage sufficient to enable single women over eighteen to possess decent lodgings, food and clothes for personal appearance; also,fares, insurance, and reasonable holidays and amusements.
The committee recommends the State to undertake the direct* costs of maternity and widows’ pensions. ■
