POLISH CRISIS

RESIGNATION OF PADEREWSKI CLASH OVER GALICIAN OFTENSIYE. - fl r r "' r - As«''<''ntion—Cimyrirtit Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received May 18, 5.5' p. 0».) WARSAW, May 17, A grave crisis has arisen in Roland, owing to the Diet refusing to support Paderewski's Paris pledge "to"ceAw the' offensive on the east Galician front. General Pilsudski, Commaiider-in-Chief, supporled Paderewski s view, but later, securing Mr Hoover’s assurance that Poland would be fed, financed and supplied with raw materials, Piisudski cancelled the arrangements for the offensive. The Diet repudi-, «ted the Paris negotiations, and compelled Piisudski to reissue the order for an attack. Thereupon Paderewski resigned. It is probable that the public will support Paderewski when the importance of Mr Hoover’s negotiations is revealed.
