LONDON, May 9. The attendance at the London wool sales was not up to the standard. Supercombing wools and fine crossbreds are still firm, but there is irregularity. Short burry scoured - Maryvale pieces realised 29§d; Woolabra lurubs, 15 jd to I6Jd; Dodgery crossbreds, 33d to 351 d Tregalanu crossbreds. Slid to 3Cd. PRICE OE SILVER. LONDON, May 9. The removal of the control of silver caused a rise of 4id per ounce. Silver is in small supply. A good demand is probable for some time to come before the market will settle down to anything like pre-war prices. LOAN AND MERC ANTILB DIVIDEND. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, has received cable advice from the head office in London that an interim dividend at the rate of 2i per cent, has been declared on the preference and ordinary stock of the company. . The visible supplies of American wheat and flour east of the Rooky Mountains aro estimated ,at the equivalent in wheat of 51,851,000 bushels. LIVE STOCK SALES AUCTIONEERS’ REPORTS. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on their To Kuiti stock sale on 9th inst. as follows: —A fair yarding of sheep and a big one of cattle was ottered. The attendance of the public was large and practically all lines changed hands at the following prices:—3-tooth wethers to 23s Id, forward ewes to 22s 6d, lambs small) 3s 6d to 7s, 2i to 3-year steers 2610 6s to JllO 10s, 2 to 2J-year steers iffi to 18 11s, 18-months steers- £o 12s 6d to .£7 ss. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report that at their Taumarunui yards on the 13th inst. they yarded 2100 sheep and 220 head of cattle. There was a good attendance of farmers, and considering , the markets in other centres-owing to dry weather there was a'very satisfactory sale, practically all lots changing hands at reduced prices. Sheep sold at late rates. Cattle' were hard to place. Quotations; —W. lambs 10s 6d, M-S. lambs 8s 8d to 10s lOd, woolly lambs to 14s 6d, cull do. 4s to 6s 6d, M.B. 2-tooths 13s 3d, poorer do. 9s Id. M.S. weanors 21s to 249. The Loan and Mercantile Agency reports: —At our Palmerston North saloon Thursday we had a small entry of both sheep and cattle. Bidding was very dull and blit few lines changed hands at late rates. We quote:—F.F.B.P. lambs, 12s; empty ewes, 8s; forward ewoe, 13s; cull lambs. 2a; heifers in milk, £5 10s to -67: springing heifers, 266 ss; forward cows, -65 to -67 8s; yearling bulls, 255; yearling heifers, 262 155.. Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., re-, port having held a sate in the Martinborough yards on Thursday, the 15th Inst., when they offered a heavy yarding of sheep and cattle. There was a decided improvement in the demand for sheep, and the bulk of the entry was sold at prices well up to late rates. Cattle met with a dragging sale and there was no competition except for stuff of exceptional quality. Dalgety and Co., Ltd.,, report on their Palmerston North sale ou the 15th instant. There .was a small yarding of both sheep and cattle, but although bidding was dull, practically everything changed hands. We quote: —Medium lambs. 9s; forward ewes, 19s; fat owes, 255, 2Ca Cd; 18-months steers, J 35; forward cows. -64 16s, 268; light fat cows, .67 10s; dairy cows, -87.. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Palmerston North, report having a very fair entry of sheep and. a small yarding of cattle at their Foil ding sale on Friday. There was a lack of competition and prices were in buyers’ favour. Quotations; — Lambs. 7s, «s KM to IDs, sd; empty owes, 11s; ewes in lamb, 15s; small wethers, 19s Cd; empty cows. ,63 ss; mixed wearier s, -63 10s.
