CHRISTCHURCH TRAM SMASH
INJURIES PROVE FATAL IN ONE CASE. - - Press Association. 1 ’ * CHRISTCHURCH. May 17. William S. Brunton, who died today, from injuries received in the Heath* cote tramway smash, was 47 , years of age. He was a plasterer by occupation, being in business with Mr StokesHis father (Mr Thomas Brunton), who was for over 40 years a compositor in the employ of the Christchurch “Press” Company, died a fortnight ago. One of -his brothers is L. Brunton, of St. Albans, and a Canterbury representative cricketer. Three others concerned in the accident are still in a critical condition. They arc:—John Chapman and. tw* little girls (Betty ‘Matthews and Olivo Needham), The other ten passengers who are still inmates of the hospital are improving.
The inquest on Brunton, the victim of the tramway accident, opened this morning. After evidence of identification, it was adjourned till Wednesday.
