THOMAS MOORE FESTIVAL
Wednesday, May 28th, bring the annh versary of Ireland s national poet Thomas Moore—the Hibernian Society, as in tho past two years, will fittingly celebrate that event by a concert in the large Town Hall for - which a splendid programme of ' ihusicai and elocutionary ftoms haa been arranged. lte ” f will he a Moore item, and a feature of the programme will be the concerted Items consisting of duets, trios, and quartettes. In connection with the festival, competitions will he held on Saturday, May 24th, in the Town Hall, for which the test pieces will be items selected from Moore works. For the choir section three separate sets of test pieces have been chosen for which , three magnificent challenge shields, have been pre. aented. Two handsome cups have also been presented for the elocutionary items, whilst many suitable trophies hajc donated for the solo sections, A largo number of entries have been received and*this part of the festival should prove most interesting.
