AWARDS FOR SEVERAL CENTRES
Press Association. DUXEDIN, May 10. - The Conciliation Council sat to-day to ratify an agreement between -Koss and Glendining, the. Mosgiel Woollen Company, the Dunedm and Bruce Woollen Company, the iultoa and Oaraaru Woollen Company, the South Canterbury Woollen Company (limaru). Lane, Walker and Ruddin Ashburton), the Kaiapoi Woollen Com,.iny, the Chrißtchurch 'Woollen Companv. tne Wellington Woollen Ctn>r panv the Xapier .Woollen Company; and" the Onehunga Woollen Mills and the Federated Woollen Mills Union of \Vorfcer3. ~ . The Commissioner sa-.d the • dispute •ould apply to only Otago and Southland, but application might be made to the Arbitration Court for a Dominion award. It was unanimously decided to request the Commissioner to intimate to the Arbitration Court \he desire of both parties that awards in terms of the recommendations be made in each industrial district where mills are operating. The. agreement provides for a 45-bour week. Overtime rate.—Time and a-quarier for the first two hours, time and a-balf for the second two hours, and thereafter double rates. Double rates for work on Sundays and holidays. "Wages.—Wool sorters, spinners, warpers, hand-loom pattern weavers, chain minders, and assistant carders Is 7d per hour, tuners Is Bd. Wages for females with four years' service or upwards lOtl per hour. Piece-work rates 20 per cent, extra for weavers and 25 per cent, for other workers. The award will operate for two fear*.
