The Kurow will get away from Wellington to-dav oargo-laden for Vancouver. The Rosamond is to sail from. Wellington to-day for Dunedin and Bluff. The Komata. which arrived at Wellington early yesterday morning from Westport,., is to sail to-morrow afternoon on i.he return trip to Westport, taking passengers. The Shaw, Savill and Albion Company advises that the steamer Bhamo arrived at Oamaru yesterday morninf* from Dunedin for Homeward loading. The vessel is due at Wellington on the 24th Inst, to complete her cargo, and is to sail on die.2Bth or 20th for London via Panama. RECORD FOR THE YARRA. It is claimed for the Union Castle liner Balmoral Castle, which arrived at Melbourne on April 22nd from. Sydney, that she is one of the largest steamers brought up the Yarra. Like her fleet mate, the Kenilworth Castle, which was then.lyino- at Port Melbourne, the Balmoral Castle has never previously visited Melbourne. She is a twin-screw steamer of 13,365 tons gross register. THE WRECKED AWANUI. Further particulars haye been received of tho wreck of tho schooner Awanui from traders at Niue Island by Mr W. P. Utting. owner of the vessel. The Awanui left Auckland'on December 18th carrying about 40 tons of general merchandise for Niue Island, a protectorate of New Zealand lying about 1400 miles north of the Dominion. The vessel was the only regular means of communication with the island, and was subsidised by tho Government. The information received by Mr Utting states that the wreck, occurred on Saturday,. January 11th, last. AH hands were saved after a narrow escape from frowning.. The vessel was at AJofi on January 7th, and was discharging till the 10th, moderate oast from south-east «inds prevailing at the time. Next morning she was expected to depart for Abatele and complete loading for Auckland. During he night a stronjr wind from the west commenced to blow, which by the morning had- increased to a hurricane. Heavy seas were breaking over the reef, and the vessel's position was precarious.' About 7.30 a.m. the last cable parted,' and 1 the crew, recognising that it was their only hope of safety,"abandoned the vessel. Soon after a huge wave lifted ber bodily over the reef. The crew had considerable difficulty in getting ashore, there being a danger of their sharing the fate of the veseel and being swept over the reef. ■'..-.
